“I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.”
It’s one sentence—but it carries massive weight.
This part of the Apostles’ Creed answers some of life’s biggest questions:
Who is God? Is He personal? Is He powerful? Can I trust Him?
Let’s unpack the three powerful truths this line reveals:
1. God Is Our Father — Personal and Compassionate
“As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him.” — Psalm 103:13
God isn’t just a distant force or a cosmic judge. When we say “Father,” we’re talking about a God who is near, caring, and deeply invested in our lives.
Jesus taught us to begin our prayers with “Our Father.” That’s intimate. That’s relational.
Still, for some, the word “father” brings up pain or disappointment. If that’s you, hear this:
God is not a reflection of your earthly father—He’s the perfection of what a father should be.
He loves without limit. He guides with purpose. He provides what we need before we even ask.
2. God Is Almighty — Powerful and Sovereign
“Our God is in the heavens; He does all that He pleases.” — Psalm 115:3
If God were only compassionate but not powerful, He’d care but be unable to act. If He were only powerful but not loving, He’d be distant and cold.
But He’s both. Father and Almighty.
That means:
- Nothing outranks Him
- Nothing limits Him
- Nothing surprises Him
He created galaxies—and He knows your name. Nothing in your life is too big for Him to handle or too small for Him to care about.
3. God Is Creator — Intentional and Purposeful
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1
This world isn’t a random accident. It was crafted with intention—and so were you.
You’re made in His image. You’re here on purpose, for a purpose.
Because God is Creator:
- Your life has value
- You have responsibility
- Your story fits into something bigger
This isn’t just theology—it’s a lens that changes how you live, pray, suffer, and make decisions.
Final Challenge: Do You Really Believe This?
If you believe God is Father, Almighty, and Creator, it changes everything.
- You can trust Him with your pain
- You can have peace when life feels chaotic
- You can live with purpose, knowing you matter
So let me ask you: Are you living like it?
