I Believe in the Holy Spirit | The Apostles’ Creed Part 9

When it comes to the Christian faith, many of us feel pretty confident talking about God the Father or Jesus the Son. But when the conversation turns to the Holy Spirit, things get fuzzy. Some imagine Him as a mystical force, an emotional surge during worship, or a theological afterthought. Others avoid the topic altogether because of confusion or controversy.

But here’s the truth: if you’re a follower of Jesus, you cannot afford to ignore the Holy Spirit.

In fact, you were never meant to follow Jesus in your own strength. And the good news? You don’t have to.

You’re Not Broken—You’re Trying to Do It Alone

Ever felt stuck in your faith? Like you’re trying hard, but it’s just not clicking? You’re not alone. The problem isn’t that you’re broken. The problem is that we’re trying to live the Christian life without the only one who can truly empower it: the Holy Spirit.

In our latest video, we break down six essential truths about the Holy Spirit—who He is, what He does, and why He matters deeply to your everyday life. Here’s a preview of what you’ll learn:

1. The Holy Spirit Is a Person Who Lives in You

Not a force. Not a feeling. The Holy Spirit is a Person—fully God, sent to dwell within every believer. John 14:26 calls Him “the Helper,” who teaches and reminds us of Jesus’ words. He makes His home in you. That changes everything about how you pray, how you repent, and how you live.

Reflection Question: What would change in your day-to-day life if you really believed God was that close?

2. The Holy Spirit Transforms Your Identity

The Spirit doesn’t just improve your behavior—He gives you a new identity. You are no longer a slave to sin, but a son or daughter of God (Romans 8:15). You’re not just better—you’re reborn. And He keeps working in you, growing the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5).

3. The Holy Spirit Empowers You to Live for Christ

Jesus told His disciples not to take one step in ministry until they received the Spirit (Acts 1:8). Why? Because the Christian life isn’t hard—it’s impossible without Him. Whether it’s sharing your faith, resisting sin, or forgiving others, the Spirit gives power for what you cannot do alone.

4. The Holy Spirit Wants a Daily Relationship

God doesn’t want a Sunday-only relationship with you. Galatians 5:16 says, “Walk by the Spirit.” That means staying in step with Him—in prayer, conviction, obedience, and trust. He’s not distant. He wants to walk with you in every moment.

Reflection Question: What area of your life is the Spirit gently asking to address right now?

5. Do You Need a “Baptism in the Holy Spirit”?

Some Christians wonder if they’re missing something. But Scripture is clear: if you’re in Christ, you already have the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9, Ephesians 1:13). What we do need is to be continually filled—yielding ourselves daily to His leading (Ephesians 5:18).

6. The Spirit Brings Peace in a Noisy World

In a world of anxiety and distraction, peace is rare. But Jesus said in John 14:27, “My peace I give to you.” The Spirit doesn’t remove all storms—but He gives peace in the storm. That peace doesn’t come from control—it comes from trust.

The Bottom Line

The Holy Spirit is not an optional add-on to your faith. He is not a vibe. He is not a bonus for the super-spiritual.

He is GOD.

He is your Comforter. Your Advocate. Your Guide. And if you are in Christ—you already have Him.

So the question is: are you walking with Him?
