Jesus Didn’t Just Rise, He Ascended! | The Apostles’ Creed Part 7

The Ascension of Jesus often gets overlooked—but without it, the Gospel is incomplete.

In this post, we unpack one of the most powerful and least-discussed moments in Jesus’ life: His physical ascension into heaven. Why did He leave? What does it mean for us today? And how does this moment shape your identity, mission, and future?

The resurrection wasn’t the end of Jesus’ earthly story. Forty days later, He ascended into heaven. This wasn’t a disappearing act—it was a declaration. A crowning moment. A turning point for the church and for all believers.

Here are four key truths the Ascension reveals:

Jesus doesn’t just return to heaven—He takes His rightful place at the right hand of God. That position isn’t symbolic; it declares His ultimate authority over all creation, life, and death. He reigns now—not just someday in the future.

Jesus’ departure makes way for something greater—the coming of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 1, Jesus tells His disciples to wait for the Spirit. The Ascension marks the handoff: from Christ beside us to Christ within us.

Jesus goes to prepare a place for us. His Ascension is the firstfruits of our future glory. He doesn’t abandon us—He leads the way. We follow a risen, ascended King who guarantees our eternal home.

Before ascending, Jesus commissions His followers. The mission isn’t to wait for His return, but to live sent—empowered by the Spirit, carrying His message, living His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

Whether you’re exploring faith or already following Jesus, understanding His Ascension adds depth to everything: your view of God, your sense of purpose, and your hope for the future.
